Cableworks is a full-line rigging shop located in Putnam,Connecticut, serving New England and the New York marketplace. From the famous Boston "Big Dig" Central Artery reconstruction to New York's World Trade Center, Cableworks has provided critical lifting gear for many applications.

Cableworks facilities in Putnam, CTCableworks has been in business for 30 years, and we have expanded to a modern 18,000-square-foot facility designed especially for quick fabrication and testing of every order. The shop is built around several large swaging machines, two proof testers (up to 225,000 lbs.) and equipment for handling reels up to 10,000 lbs.The most important ingredient of our operation is our dedicated team of employees. Each order is handled with care and crafted with precision to resolve your lifting application requirements the first time.

President of Cableworks, John founded the company in 1984, after working twelve years for two major manufacturers of steel wire rope. He currently serves as a director of Associated Wire Rope Fabricators.

John has been active in local, regional and state wide school boards for over 20 years. He is also involved in town politics, and serves as trustee for a local park and golf course. John enjoys golf, ice boating and traveling with his wife Nancy and his two children, Annie and Nick. John coaches Nick's soccer and basketball teams.


David has been a member of the Cableworks team since 1990. A geologist by training, his experience includes steel plant scheduling, shipping and water well supply. At Cableworks, he performs troubleshooting assignments and is in charge of customer relations. As a Crosby Group certified Rigging Instructor, Dave has taught over 2000 students in his classes.

David enjoys restoring vintage Mini Coopers, and uses his talents to rebuild engines and mechanicals for the New England Mini Club. An officer and organizer of the NE Mini national convention, Dave has authored several technical articles on Mini Cooper restoration. Each summer, Dave vacations at the family farm on Prince Edward Island.


Richard was introduced to the wire rope business upon joining the Cableworks team in 1992. He became involved in every aspect of production, from product manufacture to inventory, billing and delivery. Currently, Richard is Cableworks' Information Technology Coordinator, and master of all RFID tagging systems data. Richard oversees day to day operations as well as customer service.

Prior to Cableworks, Rich spent 10 years as a math teacher and hockey and lacrosse coach at a private school. He continues to teach mathematics at his local community college, and still finds time for civic duties. Richard is President of the Pomfret Volunteer Fire Department, drives a rescue truck, and is active in town politics. Richard and Margie, his wife of over 30 years, have two grown sons (Peter and David) and four dogs.
